SoftBank Veteran Hunts for Profits in Payments Infrastructure Plumbing
Akshay Naheta, a veteran of SoftBank Group, is no stranger to the fintech space. He has been following the evolution of payments infrastructure and now believes that there is an opening to make a profit by providing services that bridge the gap between traditional banking systems and cryptocurrencies.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Naheta, who is also the founder of DTR Technologies, emphasized the importance of creating a seamless payment experience for businesses operating globally. He highlighted the challenges faced by companies in this space due to the fragmented nature of national payment systems, which makes it difficult to operate across different jurisdictions.
“We’re not talking about taking on PayPal or Visa and Mastercard,” he said, “We are talking about a niche that is really hard to crack for most fintechs because they don’t have the capabilities to connect all these rails together.”
DTR Technologies aims to provide an end-to-end payment solution by connecting the digital nomad community, creator economy platforms, and companies operating in emerging markets with traditional banking systems.
