Garmin Update For Fenix, Forerunner And More Brings 5 Major Changes
Garmin has just released a new beta update for its upcoming Q1 2025 software release. The update includes five significant changes that will impact various Garmin watches, including the Fenix series and more.
One of the most impactful updates is the incorporation of strength workouts into the “Garmin Run and Cycling Coach” feature. This means users can now include weight-based routines in their training schedule, which could greatly benefit runners and cyclists by helping to prevent injuries caused by overtraining. The new feature will be available on certain Garmin models, including the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3.
Another notable change is the introduction of a passcode feature for some Garmin watches. This additional layer of security requires users to input their PIN code when the watch is removed from their wrist. While this may seem unnecessary for some users, it adds an extra level of protection for those who use Garmin Pay or store sensitive information on their device.
In addition to these new features, Garmin has also made changes to its Workout Execution Score algorithm. The update will roll out to older watches like the Fenix 7 series and other compatible devices.
Furthermore, the Body Battery system is getting a major overhaul. The feature will now become a TrueUp stat, allowing users to track their data across multiple devices connected to their Garmin Connect account. This means that users with multiple wearables can see how their combined data affects their overall energy levels and recovery. While this may not have a significant impact on individual users who only own one device, it sets the stage for further integration and potential new features in the future.
Lastly, the update includes “Keyboard Enhancements” for Fenix 8, Fenix E, and Enduro 3 watches. This means that these devices will gain features similar to those seen on smartphones, such as text prediction and custom layouts. Some of these features have been teased before, but this gives users a better idea of what to expect in the upcoming release.
It’s worth noting that not all Garmin models are receiving these updates. As always, some older devices may miss out on certain features. However, those interested can sign up for the Garmin beta program to get early access to these changes.
