Title: Trump-Appointed Elon Musk’s DOGE Faces Lawsuit Over Federal Law Violations
Elon Musk, appointed by former President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is now facing a lawsuit alleging violations of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) 1972. The complaint, prepared by the National Security Counselors, claims that DOGE has neglected federal transparency and disclosure requirements.
As per the 30-page complaint, FACA necessitates all advisory committees to permit public access to meetings and abide by specific hiring protocols. Kel McClanahan, the law firm’s executive director, emphasizes that DOGE must allow its virtual and in-person meetings to be publicly attended. The lawsuit asserts that DOGE has ignored these requirements, failing to document its meetings and ensuring transparency.
The legal action is expected to be filed shortly after Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States.
DOGE’s primary goal is to reduce government spending and eliminate redundant regulations. Ramaswamy, a known advocate for cryptocurrency deregulation, joined Musk in overseeing DOGE’s efforts to improve federal agency efficiency.
