Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) is currently investigating a potential security breach after a well-known hacker claimed to have stolen sensitive information from the company.
According to TechCrunch, the hacker, using the alias “IntelBroker,” posted on a popular cybercrime forum stating that they had gained access to HPE’s systems and had stolen product source code, private GitHub repositories, as well as access keys to various HPE services. These include APIs and platforms like WePay, GitHub, and GitLab.
The hacker also claimed to have accessed user data, including personally identifiable information related to past deliveries. IntelBroker has a history of breaching major technology companies, having previously targeted AMD, Cisco, and Nokia.
In response to the claims, HPE spokesperson Laura von Pentz stated that “HPE became aware on January 16 of claims being made by a group called IntelBroker that it was in possession of information belonging to HPE.” The company has since activated its cyber response protocols, disabled related credentials, and launched an investigation to evaluate the validity of the claims.
While HPE did not disclose how the breach occurred, it assured users that there is no operational impact on their business at this time and that customer information is not involved.
