Amazon Music Unlimited prices have increased for new customers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. The move follows a trend of rising music streaming costs across the industry.
As of today, Amazon Music Unlimited now costs $9.99 per month for new users in these countries, up from its previous price of $7.99. Existing subscribers will not see an increase in their monthly fees.
The revised pricing is in line with other major music streaming services, which have also seen rate hikes in recent years. For example, Spotify’s premium tier now costs $9.99 per month, while Apple Music and Tidal charge $10.99 per month.
Despite the price hike, Amazon remains committed to offering a competitive music streaming option for its customers. The company has announced plans to continue investing in original content, artist collaborations, and exclusive playlists, all of which are designed to enhance the overall user experience.
“We believe that our unique approach to music curation, combined with our commitment to fair prices, sets us apart from other streaming services,” said a spokesperson for Amazon Music. “We will continue to work closely with artists and labels to bring new and innovative experiences to our users.”
While some fans may be dismayed by the price increase, it’s worth noting that Amazon Music Unlimited still offers several benefits at its current pricing level. These include access to tens of millions of songs, playlists tailored to individual tastes, and a free trial period for new users.
The company will continue to assess its pricing strategy based on customer feedback and market conditions, but for now, the revised rates reflect the evolving landscape of the music streaming industry.
In related news, Amazon has also announced the expansion of its Music Free service in select regions. This ad-supported option allows customers to listen to music without a paid subscription, although with limited features compared to Amazon Music Unlimited.
