UFC 312 Update: New Card Revealed with Questionable Pay-Per-View Lineup
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has released the updated card for their upcoming event, UFC 312. While the title fights between Strickland and DDP as well as Weili Zhang and Tatiana Suarez have garnered attention, it’s the pay-per-view portion of the show that is raising eyebrows.
The main card will kick off with Matthews vs. Prado, a matchup between two unranked fighters. Neither competitor has shown enough to warrant a spot on the PPV portion of the event. This lackluster start may leave fans underwhelmed and questioning the overall value of the card.
Next up is Crute vs. Bellato, which could be seen as more exciting due to Crute’s aggressive fighting style. However, this matchup still feels like a featured prelim rather than a top-tier bout on the PPV.
The middle stages will feature Teixeira-Tafa, which has the potential to be an entertaining contest. The problem lies with the fact that former Dana White’s Contender Series standout Teixeira is making his main-roster debut against KO artist Tafa, who struggles with stamina and wrestling. This fight could go either way but feels more like a featured prelim than a must-watch matchup.
It’s hard to ignore the overall lack of star power on this card. The event has all the makings of a Fight Night card rather than a pay-per-view special.
