I Stayed in My Toxic Marriage Because I Didn’t Want My Daughters to Grow Up in a Broken Home. But I Was Wrong. Now, I’m a Proud ‘Solo Mum’ and Have a Message All Women Need to Hear
As I navigated the tumultuous waters of my own marriage, I thought I had made the ultimate sacrifice by staying with my partner for the sake of our children. After all, didn’t I want them to grow up in a loving, supportive environment? Or so I thought.
But as I reflect on that period now, I realize how misguided and even harmful my decision was. The truth is, no child deserves to be exposed to toxic energy or witnessing their parents’ unhappiness. And as a mother, it’s my duty to prioritize my daughters’ well-being above all else.
In hindsight, I wish I had been more honest with myself about the state of our relationship and taken steps to protect my children from the negative impact it was having on them. Instead, I chose to put my pride and the illusion of a perfect family image over their emotional and psychological well-being.
Fast-forward to today, and I’m proud to say that I’ve taken control of my life and made the bold decision to be a solo mum. It’s not always easy, but it’s the best choice for me and my daughters.
