The first full-length trailer for the upcoming sci-fi horror film Ash has dropped, offering a glimpse into the harrowing journey of its protagonist, Riya, played by Eiza González. The video opens on a disorienting scene of chaos and destruction, as Riya wakes up on an alien planet with no recollection of who she is or how she got there.
The movie takes a bold approach by beginning at the end of the story and working its way backward in time. This unconventional storytelling technique aims to mirror the protagonist’s own disjointed experience as she tries to unravel her past and find a way off this unforgiving extraterrestrial environment.
Ridley Scott, director of iconic sci-fi films like Alien and The Martian, is not involved with Ash, but its co-directors Daniel R. Silver and Miguel Ángel Jiménez have clearly been influenced by the master’s work. Paul ( Breaking Bad ‘s Jesse Pinkman) stars alongside González in this intense survival thriller.
The plot follows a lone astronaut struggling to survive on an unfamiliar world, where she must confront her own identity and sanity as memories gradually return.
