Hong Kong Issues Warning Over 33 More HashKey Imitations
In a recent development, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has identified a staggering 33 additional fraudulent websites impersonating licensed cryptocurrency exchange HashKey. This brings the total number of fake platforms mimicking HashKey to a whopping 45.
HashKey, which obtained its crypto license from the SFC in November 2022, has confirmed that it is not connected to these malicious websites and has promptly informed its clients of the fraudulent endeavors. The company highlighted that these fraudulent websites have slightly altered official links associated with HashKey to mislead clients.
The SFC has been actively monitoring and identifying suspicious cryptocurrency platforms, including unlicensed exchanges and impersonators, since November 2021. As of January 29, the regulator has flagged at least 91 such platforms and links.
