Gordon Buchanan Relives The Moment He Walked With A Pack Of Wild Wolves – And Lived To Tell The Tale!
In an astonishing account, Gordon Buchanan, a renowned cameraman for Sir David Attenborough, has shared his terrifying yet unforgettable experience of walking with a pack of wild wolves. In a recent interview, Buchanan relived the moment when he put his life on the line to capture breathtaking footage in the midst of those majestic creatures.
As part of a documentary series, Buchanan was tasked with filming the wolves in their natural habitat. Little did he know that this would become an encounter for the ages! When the pack came face-to-face with him, Buchanan recalls being “terrified” but also awestruck by the sheer power and majesty of these wild animals.
“I’ve had my share of close encounters with wildlife,” Buchanan began, his voice steady as he recounted the event. “But nothing compares to walking alongside a pack of wolves. I was so focused on capturing the footage that I almost forgot about my own safety!”
As he ventured into the wilderness, Buchanan was fully aware of the risks involved. However, he knew that this was an opportunity too valuable to miss. His trusty camera crew and equipment were set up at a safe distance, but Buchanan chose to join the wolves on their turf.
The moment came when Buchanan found himself surrounded by six adult wolves and several pups. The tension in the air was palpable as he hesitated for what felt like an eternity before moving forward. One misstep could have spelled disaster!
Gordon explained how his heart pounded in his chest, but it didn’t stop him from capturing the moment of a lifetime: “I took deep breaths and focused on the wolves’ behavior, trying to get a clear shot without freaking them out.” It was as if time stood still.
