All of Humane’s AI Pins Will Stop Working in 10 Days
In a shocking move, AI hardware startup Humane has announced that all of its AI Pins will cease to function in just ten short days. The company has notified users that the devices will continue to work normally until February 28th at 12:00 PM PT, after which access to features such as calling, messaging, AI queries, and cloud access will be lost.
Although some functionality may remain available, the move effectively renders the device useless. Users are advised to download any stored data before the cutoff date, as Humane plans to permanently delete all remaining customer data on February 28th.
In a statement, Humane encouraged users to take immediate action to secure their data and make arrangements for the devices’ discontinuation. The company has also announced that it will refund customers who are still within the 90-day return window if they submit their request by February 27th.
Further, those who opted to wait for a replacement due to the device’s combo fire hazard and Charge Case issues can expect refunds for the allocated portion of the original purchase price. The amount allocated for the Charge Case will be refunded, which was previously $149 if ordered separately or $129 as part of the “Complete System” bundle.
The news comes after Humane announced its plans to discontinue the AI Pin due to its recent acquisition by HP. In a statement, HP noted that the deal brings together Humane’s engineers, architects, and product innovators into a new team called HP IQ, aimed at developing an intelligent ecosystem across HP’s products and services for the future of work.
It appears that Humane’s founders have had a change of heart after previously seeking a $1 billion buyout in June last year. The company received only 10,000 orders, leading to a reduced agreement with HP worth $116 million.
As the deadline approaches, users are advised to take immediate action to protect their data and make arrangements for the discontinuation of the AI Pin.
