Fiverr Wants Gig Workers to Offload Some of Their Work to AI
In a move aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing workload for its freelance contractors, online marketplace Fiverr has announced the launch of an AI-powered tool designed to automate certain tasks and provide personalized customer service. The new feature, which comes with no additional cost for its existing Personal AI Creation Model users, will enable gig workers to offload some of their work to AI.
According to reports, Fiverr’s Personal AI Assistant will be fine-tuned on contractors’ conversations with clients, allowing it to analyze each freelancer’s profile, gigs, and past client communication. While the company has not specified whether freelancers will have control over which specific chats are used for fine-tuning, they will have the ability to review and adjust their assistant’s responses during setup and further configure its behavior by defining topics that trigger a hand-off to the freelancer.
Fiverr’s Personal AI Assistant aims to provide actionable business insights and handle routine tasks, such as responding on behalf of contractors when they are offline. However, given the sensitive nature of some interactions, it is understandable that gig workers may be wary of allowing their chats to be used for fine-tuning the assistant.
The move comes as Fiverr seeks to incentivize its top-performing contractors by offering them shares in the company. While details on how awardees will be determined and what payout cadence they can expect have not been disclosed, the program aims to recognize and reward the platform’s most successful freelancers.
As AI adoption continues to grow across various industries, this move is seen as a strategic step for Fiverr to stay ahead of the curve and provide value-added services to its users.
