Malaysian Prime Minister Engages UAE on Crypto Regulations
The quest for proactive crypto regulation is growing globally, and Malaysia has decided to take a significant step in this direction by engaging with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on cryptocurrency regulations. The country’s Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, made the announcement after meeting with key UAE officials in January.
Malaysia’s decision to collaborate with the UAE comes as no surprise, given its commitment to modernize and digitalize its financial system. In a recent visit to Abu Dhabi for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), Ibrahim discussed Malaysia’s dedication to building global partnerships in technology, renewable energy, and finance.
Ibrahim’s engagement with the UAE focuses on establishing crypto regulations that cater to both countries’ economies. This initiative signifies Malaysia’s determination to stay ahead of the curve by engaging in bilateral agreements and strengthening its economic ties.
