Framous is a new Mac app for adding device frames to screenshots
A new Mac app called Framous has launched, allowing users to add device frames around their screenshots. This tool can be particularly useful for app developers, graphic designers, and even journalists who need to add an iPhone or Mac frame – also known as a mockup or template – to photos.
The app was created by Dark Noise app developer Charlie Chapman, who needed a fast and easy way to add device frames around screenshots. Traditionally, many users relied on time-consuming methods, such as searching for templates online and manually placing their screenshots. However, Framous aims to be more efficient than other options, requiring only a simple drag-and-drop or copy-paste process to automatically place screenshots in device frames.
Key features of the app include automatic detection, which selects the right frame from a library of devices, including Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV 4K. Users can also combine multiple devices into one image, and there’s a landscape mode for iPhones. Additionally, there are plenty of customization options available, such as moving device buttons to the side and changing the frame color. There is also an edge-to-edge mode that lets your photo fill the frame, similar to modern iPhones. You can export your images to Figma or Sketch for further editing.
In a statement, Chapman discussed his future plans for the app, which include adding more customization options such as controls for the frame background, shadows, and padding. He also intends to introduce video support and the ability to save templates. An iOS app is also on the roadmap.
Framous is currently available to download for free in the Mac App Store. If you want to unlock all the frames, you’ll need to spend a one-time fee of $19.99 or subscribe annually at $9.99 to unlock new frames as they become available.
