Jeju Island Crypto Murder: Four Arrested in Stabbing of Chinese National
South Korean authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of a Chinese national on Jeju Island, with four suspects arrested and being questioned regarding the gruesome crime.
The incident took place on February 24 when the victim, identified as Mr. A, was found dead in his luxury hotel room after his acquaintance reported him missing at around 5:10 PM. The investigation revealed that the murder occurred during a cryptocurrency transaction, with police discovering multiple stab wounds on the victim’s body.
According to reports, one of the suspects, a woman in her 30s, surrendered herself to the authorities, while the other three attempted to flee the country by boarding flights at Jeju International Airport. However, they were apprehended before they could leave South Korea.
It is alleged that the suspects stole approximately 85 million KRW (approximately $59,000) from the victim, although the exact motive behind the crime remains unclear. The four arrested individuals are currently being held and questioned by authorities to determine their involvement in the tragic event.
This incident marks the second major crypto-related crime to occur on Jeju Island in 2025, following a previous case in January where six Chinese nationals were arrested for allegedly stealing $580,000 worth of cryptocurrency from a hotel guest.
