Hinge launches a new feature for daters to privately share details with matches
Dating app Hinge has launched a brand-new feature called “Match Note” that allows users to privately share information with their matches. This innovative addition enables individuals to add a private note to their profile, which is only visible to new matches and can be read once.
To activate this feature, users simply need to go to their profile and follow the same process as adding a text prompt. The Match Note will be accessible to their new match, but they won’t be able to re-read it until they’ve acknowledged it by starting a conversation or choosing to unmatch the other person.
Hinge has explicitly designed this feature with underrepresented groups in mind, particularly LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent users who face unique challenges on dating apps. For instance, transgender individuals may not feel comfortable publicly disclosing their identity in their profiles but still want to be upfront with their matches about their gender. This feature could also allow neurodivergent users to share their needs in a more private manner or help sober daters plan a first date that doesn’t involve drinking.
In addition, Match Note might enable users to express their relationship and communication preferences before engaging in conversation with someone who may not align with their expectations.
