Google Will Delete My Gmail And Photos On April 3—How To Save Yours
As the years have passed, I’ve had to deal with my fair share of online scrutiny and criticisms as a journalist for over three decades. While being a well-known figure in the public eye can come with its own set of challenges, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when incorrect or damaging information about yourself shows up in search results. The stress of dealing with these issues is only heightened by the fact that you don’t have to be a celebrity to experience this problem.
Luckily, Google has been making an effort to help users manage their online presence more effectively. In 2022, they launched the Results About You tool, which allows internet users to not only find out if their personal contact information is visible in search results but also take action to remove it. The tool can scan for results containing sensitive information like your phone number or address and help you quickly remove them.
But now, Google has taken things a step further by redesigning the Results About You tool to make removing unwanted results even easier. This updated version enables proactive monitoring, alerting you if new results are found that contain your personal data. It’s been made even simpler to request removals directly from search itself, with an updated menu offering more options for users.
However, in a different development, Google has announced plans to stop using SMS codes for two-factor authentication (2FA) on Gmail accounts and replace them with QR codes. According to a spokesperson, the move is designed to reduce phishing risks and phone number verification issues.
