Polish Space Agency Investigating Cyberattack After Detecting Unauthorized Access to IT Infrastructure
The Polish Space Agency (POLSA) has announced that it is working to restore its services after detecting a cybersecurity incident on Sunday. According to a statement posted on X, the agency immediately disconnected its network from the internet after discovering unauthorized access to its IT infrastructure.
While the nature of the attack remains unknown, Poland’s digital minister Krzysztof Gawkowski confirmed in a separate post that state cybersecurity services had detected an attempt to compromise the Polish Space Agency’s systems. The government is currently working to identify those responsible for the cyberattack.
This incident is particularly concerning given Poland’s history with cyberattacks. In January, Gawkowski stated that Poland has been targeted by Russia more than any other country in the European Union, attributing most of these incidents to APT28, a state-sponsored hacking group operated by Russian military intelligence.
As the situation develops, it is unclear what data may have been compromised or whether the attack was intended to disrupt operations at the space agency. TechCrunch will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
