TCL has just unveiled a brand-new TV in its Precise Dimming Series, and it’s clear that the company is aiming to take things to the next level. The QM7K is a Mini-LED TV and a follow-up to the recently-released QM6K.
One of the key features that sets this new model apart from its predecessors is its increased peak brightness. TCL claims that this new development allows for an enhanced viewing experience, with improved color accuracy and a more immersive picture overall. To achieve this, the company has integrated its Super High Energy LED Chip into the QM7K’s design.
This innovative chip combines high brightness with increased light efficiency, resulting in a product that is both powerful and efficient. Additionally, TCL has also incorporated its Super Condensed Micro Lens technology, which utilizes a narrower light path for more precise control over the light being emitted.
But what really gets us excited here at Engadget is the promise of “virtually no blooming” – an issue that has plagued some Mini-LED TVs in the past. By minimizing the optical distance between the backlight and diffuser, this new technology eliminates blooming, reduces the halo effect, and avoids LED light overlap.
As you might expect, this improved picture quality doesn’t come without any software-based enhancements. In fact, TCL has introduced a brand-new color optimization algorithm to improve accuracy, as well as a bi-directional 23-bit backlight controller that allows for granular control of over 65,000 levels of brightness for each and every LED.
But don’t worry if you’re not an audio aficionado – TCL hasn’t forgotten about the importance of sound quality. The QM7K features Bang & Olfusen speakers, ensuring a richer listening experience to match the enhanced visuals.
As far as availability goes, it looks like this new Mini-LED TV is ready to hit shelves right away. In fact, traditional sizes are already available at retailers nationwide, with larger models set to follow soon. The smallest model can be yours for around $1,300, while the largest option will cost a whopping $20,000.
But wait – there’s more! Some purchases of this TV come with a generous $500 Visa gift card, which we think is a nice little bonus.
So, if you’re in the market for a top-of-the-line Mini-LED TV that can deliver on its promise to offer higher peak brightness and better contrast than earlier models, the QM7K might just be the ticket.
