LSU’s Kim Mulkey Calls Out Reporter for Eating Mozzarella Stick During Press Conference
Coach Kim Mulkey of the LSU Lady Tigers women’s basketball team found herself in hot water after singling out a reporter, Erin Kesin from 247Sports, for eating a mozzarella stick during her press conference following the team’s loss to Texas in the SEC Tournament semifinals.
In an unusual moment, Mulkey pointed at Kesin and said, “You know what? I love it. I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself because you were not very respectful of our game tonight.” The crowd chuckled, but it was clear that Kesin did not appreciate being called out in front of everyone.
Mulkey’s mom even weighed in on the incident, saying that her daughter’s celebration was a “big f-you” to UNC fans who were being “classless A-holes.”
However, Kesin took to social media to clarify that she was not eating during the press conference, but rather during commercial break before it started. She also expressed disappointment and frustration with Mulkey’s behavior.
“It seems like I’m getting trolled by Kim Mulley [sic] for ‘eating’ during her presser when in reality I just took a bite of my snack DURING THE COMMERCIAL BREAK BEFORE HER PRESS CONFERENCE,” Kesin wrote on Twitter. “So, Coach, don’t try to spin this as me being disrespectful. You know who was actually disrespecting you and your team? The fans who were running their mouths about LSU winning the whole thing before even playing.”
The controversy has sparked a heated debate online, with some people defending Mulkey’s right to address the situation while others have criticized her behavior for being unprofessional.
