CZ Responds to Binance-Tump Allegations: ‘I Spoke to No One’
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has rejected allegations made by The Wall Street Journal, stating that he had no discussions with representatives of Donald Trump’s family regarding a potential acquisition stake in Binance.US. In his response, CZ implied that the report may have been motivated by political factors and aimed to discredit both President Trump and the cryptocurrency industry as a whole.
In a statement on social media, CZ emphasized that he has not spoken to anyone about such an acquisition, nor did he request a presidential pardon. He claimed that more than 20 people had informed him that they were contacted by WSJ and other media outlets to verify whether he sought a pardon.
CZ also targeted the previous administration for what he described as “residual forces” working against the crypto industry. This criticism is believed to be related to his legal situation, where he has been sentenced to prison for violating US anti-money laundering laws.
Despite this controversy, CZ reaffirmed his commitment to promoting cryptocurrency adoption globally and in the United States. He aims to maintain Binance’s mission of making cryptocurrencies accessible to a broader audience while navigating the challenges that may arise from any political or legal issues.
This reaction comes after WSJ reported that Trump allies were in talks with Binance regarding the potential purchase of a stake in Binance.US, as well as claims that CZ had requested a presidential pardon.
