Donny Osmond Reveals How He ‘Stole’ His Wife from His Brother After Elton John Concert
In a recent interview, Donny Osmond opened up about his philosophy on show business and how it has evolved over the years. The legendary entertainer also shared an intimate story about how he met his wife, Marie Osmond.
During the conversation, Osmond talked about the importance of authenticity and innovation in today’s entertainment industry. He emphasized that audiences no longer just want to see a concert or performance; they want an experience.
“I think it’s because, years ago, you just got up there and did a concert and that would be fine,” he said. “But nowadays, the audience attention is like that of a gnat. Oh, I like it. OK. What’s next, what’s next, what’s next? And so you constantly have to keep reinventing yourself, which I don’t mind because I love to produce and create and things like that.”
Osmond also discussed how his approach has helped him maintain a successful career spanning decades. “They want an experience, not just a show,” he emphasized. “And with that experience, they want authenticity. And they want to walk away saying that was worth more than the price of admission.”
However, Osmond’s story about finding love took a surprising turn. He revealed that his wife, Marie, used to date his older brother Alan before marrying him.
“Marie and I got married in 1982,” he began. “And I’ll never forget this. It was after an Elton John concert at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas. We were all backstage together, and I saw her and that was it.”
However, Osmond’s confession took a cheeky turn when he said, “I stole my wife from my brother.” Marie had reportedly been dating Alan before marrying Donny, making his statement a humorous jab at the situation.
Regardless of how he met his wife, it is clear that Osmond values authenticity and connection with his audience.
