Scam Alert: Another $6.2 million in Ethereum (ETH) lost due to hack
Ethereum holders are once again under attack as hackers have stolen a significant amount of Ether, according to recent reports. The incident marks the second major security breach in the Ethereum ecosystem this year alone.
In a shocking development, malicious actors have targeted and successfully extracted 6,260 ETH, worth approximately $13 million USD at current prices, from linked smart contracts associated with GMX (a popular derivatives platform).
This is not the first time that Ethereum holders are being targeted. In February, hackers struck Bybit exchange’s cold wallet, stealing a staggering $1.4 billion in ETH in the process.
The recent hack has sent shockwaves through the crypto community, causing a 1.45% decline in Ether price over the last 24 hours to $2,060.12.
In an effort to track and trace the stolen funds, Tether, Tron, and TRM Labs have joined forces to identify and freeze around $9 million linked to the Bybit hack.
As Ethereum’s market capitalization continues to grow, it is crucial that security measures are strengthened to protect investors’ assets.
