Nvidia is reportedly in talks to acquire Lepton AI
TechCrunch has learned that Nvidia, the leading semiconductor company, is in negotiations to acquire Lepton AI, a startup that specializes in renting out servers powered by Nvidia’s AI chips. According to unnamed sources cited by The Information, the deal is worth several hundred million dollars.
Lepton AI was founded just two years ago and has already raised an $11 million seed round from investors CRV and Fusion Fund. This development marks a significant expansion of Nvidia’s presence in the server rental market, as it would be joining Together AI, another prominent player in the space that has secured over $500 million in venture capital.
Notably, this acquisition follows closely on the heels of Nvidia’s recent purchase of synthetic data startup Gretel just last week. This move demonstrates Nvidia’s continued commitment to strengthening its position in the burgeoning server rental market and solidifying its status as a major player in the AI ecosystem.
Nvidia has not publicly commented on these talks at the time of writing, but it is expected that more information will emerge once a deal is finalized.
