Hegseth Says No Classified Information Was Shared in Signal Group Chat: ‘Nobody’s Texting War Plans’
Fox News host Pete Hegseth has disputed claims of sensitive military information being shared on a Signal group chat, stating that no classified information was revealed during the discussion.
According to Reuters, Hegseth attended a meeting with US officials in Brussels, Belgium, where he reported that they were discussing “war plans.” However, he did not publish any highly sensitive information, including specific details about weapons packages, targets, and timing, due to potential threats to national security and military operations.
In a post on X, Hegseth scolded journalist Jeff Goldberg for releasing what he deemed to be insignificant war plans. The Fox News host questioned the authenticity of the information shared, stating that it lacked any concrete details.
“So, let’s get this straight,” Hegseth wrote. “The Atlantic released the so-called ‘war plans’ and those ‘plans’ include: No names. No targets. No locations. No units. No routes. No sources. No methods. And no classified information.”
He continued by suggesting that Goldberg had never seen a war plan or attack plan in his life.
“These only prove one thing: Jeff Goldberg has never seen a war plan or an ‘attack plan’ (as he now calls it). Not even close,” Hegseth said.
Hegseth’s comments come as the controversy surrounding the Signal group chat and potential leak of classified information continues to unfold.
