Cloud Veterans Launch ConfigHub to Fix ‘Configuration Hell’
TechCrunch has learned that a group of cloud veterans have launched a new company called ConfigHub, aimed at tackling the complex issue of “configuration hell” in the enterprise world.
The founders, Grant and Richardson, have a wealth of experience working with some of the biggest names in tech, including Google and VMware. In an interview, Grant explained how his experience working on Kubernetes, which was open-sourced by Google in 2014, gave him insight into the challenges faced by organizations when it comes to managing configurations.
“We were essentially building a product that was going to make it possible for many more people to do what we were doing,” he said. “It became very clear that we needed to provide a way for users to configure their systems in an organized and manageable way.”
Grant’s experience at Google, where he worked for 17 years, also gave him valuable insights into the importance of configuration management.
“I was the third engineer there when we started, and we didn’t even have a name,” Grant said. “So I’ve done very early startups before.”
