Linear Finance Announces Shutdown Amid Token Price Decline
Thursday, March 27, 2025
In a sudden and unexpected move, Linear Finance has announced its decision to cease operations due to ongoing financial challenges. This drastic measure comes as the token price of LINA plummeted by 65% after being delisted from Binance.
According to an official statement released on Twitter, the company revealed that it had struggled to generate sustainable returns despite numerous efforts to foster growth and innovate. The struggling DeFi protocol has made a joint decision with stakeholders to discontinue all operations, ultimately leading to its termination.
The shutdown of Linear Finance has triggered significant price fluctuations in its LINA token. Following the Binance delisting and announcement, the token’s value decreased by 67% within a week and has plummeted by 75% over the past month. The company’s closure and surrounding market uncertainty are largely responsible for these sharp declines.
Market participants anticipate more information regarding the timeline and instructions that will affect their holding positions on the protocol’s decentralized applications (dApps).
The financial struggles experienced by Linear Finance began shortly after it became profitable in 2019/2020. Despite efforts to find alternative solutions, the company was unable to overcome its unsustainable business model, which relied heavily on contributions from project owners and token liquidations.
