Major Crypto Discussions Ahead: SEC Announces 4 Roundtables
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently announced the initiation of four roundtables focused on providing clarity on crypto regulation. These discussions are a significant step forward in shaping the future policies and regulations surrounding cryptocurrencies.
The roundtables, which will be open to the public, aim to facilitate lively discussions, provide insights from experts, and offer a platform for the Commission to present solutions. The agenda and details about the speakers will be made available once confirmed.
These roundtables are part of an ongoing effort by the SEC’s Crypto Task Force (CTF), which was launched on January 21st. The task force is dedicated to drafting clear regulatory frameworks, creating realistic steps for registration and disclosure, and strategically using enforcement resources.
The CTF has already begun examining whether certain digital assets should be categorized as securities and how these assets align with existing regulations. This move comes after the SEC’s criticism of many cryptocurrency projects, including Ripple under former Secretary Gensler. However, with a crypto-friendly administration in power under US President Donald Trump, there is anticipation for friendlier crypto policies.
The roundtables will take place at the SEC headquarters in Washington D.C., and attendees can participate either in person or via live stream.
