Ripple Strikes Major Deal with African Payments Giant Chipper Cash
In a significant move, fintech giant Ripple has announced a major partnership with Chipper Cash, Africa’s leading cross-border payments platform. This collaboration marks a major milestone for Ripple in expanding its footprint in the region.
As per the agreement, Ripple will integrate its payment infrastructure into Chipper Cash’s existing network, enabling users to instantly send and receive funds across borders. With over 5 million active customers worldwide, this strategic partnership aims at enhancing financial inclusion by bridging the gaps between traditional payment systems and emerging technologies.
According to a statement released by the two entities, Ripple Payments will now reach an additional 90+ payout markets globally, covering more than 90% of foreign exchange markets. The company further claims that its infrastructure has processed over $70 billion in volume since inception.
Chipper Cash, which began operations in 2018, has seen significant growth and funding. With a user base spanning across Africa and beyond, the platform has received an influx of investments, having concluded a $150 million Series C round led by FTX in November 2021.
