According to recent findings by Arkham, a significant portion of the U.S. government’s Bitcoin reserves was sold off between June 2023 and December 2024, with an estimated total value of $2.24 billion. This staggering amount is likely comprised of coins seized from Silk Road hacker James Zhong.
As recently as March 2023, the last major sale conducted by the U.S. government took place, where it sold a total of $215.5 million worth of Bitcoin that was originally seized from Zhong.
