Kevin Cronin Responds to REO Speedwagon Reunion Exclusion: ‘Deeply Disturbed And Hurt’
A day after it was announced that Steve Augeri would be rejoining REO Speedwagon on stage for a one-night-only reunion at the Taste of Summer tour, Kevin Cronin has responded to his exclusion from the event.
In an interview with Billboard, Cronin expressed his disappointment and frustration over not being included in the reunion. “I’m deeply disturbed and hurt by the fact that I wasn’t invited to participate,” he said. “I’ve been a part of this band for 45 years, and to be ignored like this is unacceptable.”
The tensions between Cronin and Augeri have been well-documented over the past few years. The two singers were once the iconic duo behind REO Speedwagon’s hit songs, but their relationship turned sour after Augeri left the band in 2009.
Cronin went on to praise his former bandmates, Mike Murphy and Bruce Hall, saying that they “deserve credit” for keeping the band going while he was away. However, he made it clear that he won’t be attending the Taste of Summer tour, citing the hurt feelings and lack of communication as the reason.
“I don’t think I can go through with this reunion without being part of it,” Cronin said in a statement. “I’m not looking to make waves or cause drama, but I do want to be respected and treated fairly.”
The Taste of Summer tour is set to kick off on May 15th at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Missouri, with Steve Augeri rejoining REO Speedwagon for a one-night-only reunion.
