NYT ‘Strands’ Hints Today: Clues, Answers For Tuesday, April 1
As we dive into the second day of Strands puzzle by The New York Times, it’s essential to highlight that today is a special occasion – April Fool’s Day. Surprisingly, however, Strands has not decided to play any tricks on us. Instead, they have come up with something fitting for this time of year.
For those who are new to the game, here’s a quick rundown on how to play Strands. The concept is a modern take on the classic word search puzzle. For now, it’s in beta and will only remain available if players continue to engage with it daily. The gameplay involves finding a group of words that share a common trait. When you stumble upon a theme word, it will be highlighted in blue. Additionally, you’ll need to discover a special word called a spangram, which reveals the connection among the theme words. This crucial information can be found on one of the board’s opposite sides.
To clarify, theme words will not be proper names, whereas the spangram might be. Every letter will be used once in one of the theme words and spangram. Players are free to combine letters vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, with the option to switch directions mid-word if needed. If you’re accessing Strands on a touchscreen device, simply double-tap the last letter to submit your answer.
For those who have unlocked the Hint button by finding at least three valid words with a minimum length of four letters that are not part of the theme, clicking it will highlight the letters used in one of the hidden words. It’s crucial to note that some days may require you to fill in missing word(s) within a phrase, while other times, the puzzle might focus on synonyms or homophones. The difficulty level and surprise elements will vary from day to day.
Moving forward to today’s Strands puzzle, we have received the official hint from NYT, which reads: “Tis the season”. I’ll also be providing my own additional hint for those in need of an extra nudge.
