TVP Research Finds Pre-Seed Bitcoin Startup Investment Activity Grows 767% Since 2021
In a groundbreaking new report, Trammell Venture Partners (TVP) has revealed that pre-seed investment activity in the Bitcoin startup sector has skyrocketed by an astonishing 767% since 2021. The findings highlight a significant shift in the venture capital landscape, as investors increasingly turn to early-stage companies building on the Bitcoin protocol.
According to TVP’s research, which analyzed four years of longitudinal data, pre-seed startups have collectively raised nearly $1.2 billion during this period. This remarkable growth underscores the growing appetite among entrepreneurs and investors for innovative solutions that leverage the security, reliability, and decentralization offered by Bitcoin.
Christopher Calicott, managing director at TVP, emphasized the significance of these findings, stating that four consecutive years of year-over-year growth in pre-seed investment activity confirm a sustained, long-term trend. “Many entrepreneurs across crypto are revisiting the Bitcoin stack as the long-term place to build their companies,” he noted. “It makes perfect sense: the objectively most secure, reliable, and decentralized blockchain is the obvious platform of choice, given the increasing capability to build there.”
As investors continue to flock to early-stage startups building on Bitcoin, the data suggests that an increasing amount of crypto value will begin to accrue to the Bitcoin stack. This trend is expected to have far-reaching implications for the broader cryptocurrency market.
TVP’s research aims to support the institutionalization of venture investment in this emerging growth category within crypto and blockchain venture capital. The full report can be downloaded from the TVP website.
