Frito-Lay Issues Recall for Some Tostitos Tortilla Chips Due to Undeclared Milk Allergens
Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall of certain batches of its Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips due to the potential contamination with undeclared milk allergens. The company announced the recall after learning that some bags of the product may contain nacho cheese tortilla chips, which could pose a risk for individuals with dairy allergies or sensitivities.
According to Frito-Lay’s statement, the affected products are 13-ounce bags of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips. While the company emphasizes that the product is safe for consumption by those without milk allergies, it has taken proactive measures to ensure the well-being and safety of its customers.
The recall affects only a limited number of bags, with approximately less than 1,300 units impacted. The full list of affected lot numbers can be found on the FDA’s website. Consumers who have purchased these products are advised to check their packaging for specific lot numbers before returning them to the store where they were bought or online retailer.
In addition, Frito-Lay emphasizes that this recall does not affect any other Tostitos product flavors, bag sizes, or variety packs.
The affected products were sold at various retail stores and online in 13 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Sales of these items began as early as March 7, with the recall announcement made on March 27.
