Pierce Brosnan, the sixth actor to portray James Bond, has expressed his sympathy with Helen Mirren’s recent comments about the franchise being built on “profound sexism”.
In an interview, Brosnan acknowledged the need for greater diversity and representation within the James Bond series. He stated that he understands where Dame Helen is coming from, saying:
“I do sympathize with Helen Mirren, I think she makes some very valid points. You know, we’ve had a few of us guys running around in tuxedos, shooting guns and making jokes, and it’s been a bit of the same old, same old for a while now.”
Brosnan went on to emphasize that he believes it’s crucial for the franchise to adapt and evolve with changing societal attitudes.
