Solve Intelligence raises fresh $12M to bring AI to IP, patent workflows
In a significant milestone, Solve Intelligence has secured a new funding of $12 million in a Series A round led by 20VC, with the participation of Microsoft’s Venture Fund (M12), Thomson Reuters Ventures, and Y Combinator. The startup aims to utilize this influx of capital to further accelerate its growth, expand its workforce, and establish an office in New York.
Solve Intelligence is focused on leveraging generative AI to simplify intellectual property (IP) workflows for patent lawyers and attorneys. The company’s browser-based document editor, which operates akin to Google Docs, uses AI models to assist with the drafting and writing required for IP work and filing patents. According to CEO Chris Parsonson, Solve’s technology is particularly well-suited to meet the needs of patent professionals who require both domain expertise and legal knowledge.
In the context of its Series A announcement, Parsonson shared that the company has made significant strides in the past two years since its inception in 2023. Solve currently boasts a user base of 200 IP teams across the United States, Europe, Asia, and other regions, with major clients such as Siemens and Avery Dennison.
Solve’s innovative approach lies in its AI-powered technology that enables users to customize the output to suit their unique style, allowing for seamless integration into existing workflows. Parsonson emphasized that this feature sets Solve apart from competitors in the legal tech space, including PatSnap, IPRally, HarveyAI, and Casetext (acquired by Thomson Reuters).
As part of its growth strategy, Solve plans to scale its product offerings, expand its workforce, and invest heavily in research and development. The company aims to strengthen its presence in the life sciences sector, particularly with pharmaceutical companies and law firms.
In a statement, Parsonson highlighted the strategic importance of partnerships with Microsoft and Thomson Reuters, which will enable deeper integrations with Microsoft products such as Microsoft Word and accelerate the development of AI systems tailored for patents on a large scale.
