A Waymo robotaxi got trapped in Chick-fil-A drive-thru
A Waymo robotaxi caused a traffic jam at a Chick-fil-A in Santa Monica, California earlier this week after getting stuck in the fast food restaurant’s drive-thru lane.
According to reports, the Waymo robotaxi had dropped off a passenger in the parking lot of the Chick-fil-A location. However, the vehicle was unable to complete a multi-point turn due to the proximity of the drive-thru lane and multiple other cars in the tight space.
In an emailed statement to TechCrunch, Waymo confirmed the incident, stating that there were no passengers on board at the time of the incident. The company did not provide further details or comment on any possible actions taken to resolve the situation.
This is not the first instance of a Waymo robotaxi causing disruptions in public spaces. In recent months, similar incidents have been reported, including a Waymo getting stuck in a roundabout loop and another halting traffic by standing still in front of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade in San Francisco.
