PS Portal’s Cloud Streaming beta gets automatic pauses and screen captures
In a significant update, Sony has announced the addition of several new features to its PlayStation Portal’s Cloud Streaming option. The highly anticipated beta platform is now capable of sorting games by recently added, name in standard or reverse alphabetical order, or release date.
One of the most notable changes is the introduction of an automatic pause feature. This will allow players to stop gameplay if they need to access the PS Portal quick menu. Additionally, the game will automatically pause if a player presses the power button. However, it’s essential to note that failure to unpause the session within 15 seconds may result in disconnection from the cloud streaming service.
Furthermore, the new update also includes an improved waiting experience for multiplayer mode. Users will now be provided with an estimated wait time before being placed into the game when their turn arrives. This feature aims to enhance the overall gaming experience and reduce frustration caused by lengthy wait times.
In a move that is likely to be welcomed by players, Sony has also introduced a new capture button. This allows users to take screenshots or record video gameplay clips. These captures will be stored in the PlayStation App library for 14 days before being automatically deleted.
Two minor updates have also been made available to Cloud Streaming subscribers. Firstly, an inactivity notification will now pop up after 10 minutes of no action, alerting players that their session is about to end. Secondly, a user feedback screen will appear at the conclusion of each session, providing an opportunity for users to offer suggestions or report any issues.
The PlayStation Portal’s Cloud Streaming trial was initially announced late last year and is currently available to all PlayStation Plus Premium members participating in the beta. This innovative system enables players to access select games from PlayStation’s servers without the need for a PS5 console.
