Anthropic rolls out a $200-per-month Claude subscription
Anthropic announced today the launch of a new, high-end subscription plan for its AI chatbot Claude: Max. This premium offering is priced at $200 per month and offers higher usage limits than the company’s existing $20-per-month Claude Pro subscription.
According to TechCrunch, the new tier includes priority access to Anthropic’s newest AI models and features. Interestingly, the Max plan comes in two different flavors, each with unique price points and usage limits. The lower-tier option costs $100 per month and offers 5x higher rate limits than Claude Pro, while the more expensive version sets users back $200 per month and provides a whopping 20x higher rate limits.
The launch of this new subscription plan comes at a time when Anthropic is looking to boost its revenue. Frontier AI model developers are under pressure to find innovative ways to increase their income, as seen in OpenAI’s recent success with the launch of ChatGPT Pro. This high-end tier has reportedly brought in an annualized revenue growth of $300 million.
It remains unclear whether the new Max plan will replicate this level of success for Anthropic. However, company officials have stated that they are not ruling out the possibility of releasing even more expensive subscription options in the future.
As part of its efforts to increase revenue, Anthropic has also announced the development of a new product called Claude for Education. This service is designed specifically for university customers and will provide unique benefits and capabilities tailored to their needs.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Anthropic’s Product Lead Scott White emphasized that user feedback will continue to guide the company’s product roadmap moving forward.
