Today’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Monday, April 14th
As we return to the grind after a relaxing weekend, it’s time to tackle today’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle. If you’re anything like me, you might have gotten stuck on some of the trickier words and phrases. Worry not, dear reader, for I’m here to guide you through the answers.
ACROSS
1- Uneaten part of toast, often — CRUST
6- Like stud muffins — HUNKY
7- Prepare for use, as a marker — UNCAP
8- Nick of “48 Hours” — NOLTE
9- Strike zone’s lower boundary — KNEES DOWN
1- Alternative to a chip, in the baking aisle — CHUNK
2- Kind of sentence that keeps going and going, it should have been made into two sentences — RUNON
3- Cousin’s dad — UNCLE
4- Spin out on the ice, say — SKATE
5- Uses a keyboard — TYPES
In today’s puzzle, I noticed that some words were intentionally tricky. For instance, “Prepare for use, as a marker” didn’t immediately make me think of drawing with a marker. Similarly, “spin out on the ice” could be interpreted in different ways, such as a car losing control or an individual doing spins on skates.
On the other hand, 1-Across was straightforward enough, unless you were distracted by the baking aisle and thought about tortilla chips instead of chocolate chips.
It took me approximately 1:41 to complete the puzzle, largely due to the challenges I mentioned earlier. I’m Nick Nolte, but not that kind of actor (although he did star in “48 Hours”).
