Tired of Ticketmaster? This Entrepreneur is Giving Power Back to Event Organizers and Raised $65 Million to Do It
The concert ticketing industry has long been criticized for its lack of innovation and stranglehold by companies like Ticketmaster. However, one entrepreneur is taking a different approach and it’s paying off big time. Simon Hennes, the co-founder of Vivenu, has been on a mission to give power back to event organizers and raise awareness about outdated ticketing technology.
Hennes’ journey began in 2018 when he started Vivenu as a white-label ticket marketplace. The platform allows customers like Stanford University and the Grammy’s Recording Academy to sell tickets under their own brand name and branding, while Vivuen takes care of sending out passes and managing the process behind the scenes.
But Vivenu doesn’t just stop at providing a new way for events to sell tickets. It also gathers useful data on ticket sales, including demographic information on who is buying tickets. This data allows brands to plan smarter marketing strategies for future events, which can increase revenue and improve overall engagement.
After initially bootstrapping the company out of a small village near Frankfurt, Vivuen has now raised over $65 million in funding from investors like Balderton Capital and Activant Capital. The platform serves more than 700 ticket-selling clients across over 40 countries.
Hennes’ vision is to revolutionize the concert ticketing industry by giving event organizers back their power. He believes that the current system, dominated by companies like Ticketmaster, is outdated and unfair. “It was just odd to me, seeing outdated technology,” Hennes said in an interview.
By providing a platform for events to sell tickets themselves, Vivuen aims to disrupt the status quo and provide a more fair and innovative approach to ticketing.
