Mercari’s Mercoin Exchange Rolls Out XRP Trading with Wallets Starting at 1 Yen
Mercoin, a Japanese crypto services provider and subsidiary of Mercari Inc., has recently expanded its offerings by adding support for XRP. This marks the third cryptocurrency listed on the platform and the first deeply integrated into a widely adopted financial ecosystem in Japan.
As reported by Coinpost, Mercoin will start handling XRP transactions beginning April 24th. Users can now purchase XRP for as low as 1 yen, equivalent to approximately $0.007, using various payment methods such as bank recharge balances, Merpay sales, and even Mercari points.
Mercoin has a massive user base of over 3 million users, with the majority being new traders who have been drawn in by the platform’s simple and secure trading service. This expansion can be seen as a major boost to Japan’s crypto space given its appeal to both new and existing users.
It is worth noting that XRP already has a strong presence in Japan through Ripple’s partnership with SBI Holdings for cross-border payments, liquidity, and even car purchases.
