Ripple CEO Makes Major Statement About Outdated SWIFT and XRP

Ripple’s Chief Executive Officer, Brad Garlinghouse, has recently made a major statement about the outdated nature of SWIFT and the potential offered by blockchain-based solutions, particularly Ripple’s own XRP.
In a video posted on X, Garlinghouse emphasized that the financial system is at a crossroads, driven by the emergence of innovative technologies such as blockchain. He highlighted that this shift would require a significant overhaul of the existing infrastructure.
Garlinghouse drew attention to SWIFT, stating that the payment network has been in operation for over four decades. While acknowledging its effectiveness, he underlined its limitations. Garlinghouse compared upgrading SWIFT to making a “horse and buggy” faster, saying that it is time to move beyond outdated systems and adopt more advanced solutions.
He stressed that Ripple’s XRP offers a fundamentally different approach by leveraging blockchain technology, which can enable faster transactions at lower costs. This vision emphasizes the importance of interoperability among various blockchain networks.
