SEC To Declare XRP as Official US Strategic Reserve Asset? Community Says ‘Fake News’
A viral fake rumor has taken the internet by storm, claiming that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is preparing to announce XRP as an official U.S. strategic reserve asset. However, the XRP community quickly called for sources, as there was no official confirmation or announcement regarding this development.
The speculation began with a tweet from @repost stating that “in less than 30 minutes we will hear that XRP is the strategic reserve?” followed by a claim that SEC confirmed the news. Although the initial statement sent shockwaves throughout the crypto community, it has now been labeled as ‘fake news’ due to the lack of any concrete evidence or official announcement.
To clarify, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed optimism about XRP’s future in an interview with Bloomberg Markets, suggesting that it could be included in the White House’s proposed digital asset stockpile. He also expressed confidence that an XRP ETF will launch by the end of the year.
