Nvidia Takes Aim at Anthropic’s Support of Chip Export Controls
In a bold move, Nvidia has spoken out against its competitor Anthropic’s support for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s “Framework for Artificial Intelligence Diffusion.” The framework, set to take effect on May 15, aims to impose sweeping AI chip export restrictions.
According to reports, Anthropic has doubled down on its support for these controls, stating that they are necessary to prevent the unauthorized use and proliferation of AI technology. Nvidia, however, disagrees with this stance, arguing that it would be detrimental to innovation and hinder global progress in the field.
The company made a pointed statement to CNBC, referring to Anthropic’s claims about the smuggling of AI chips as “tall tales.” The spokesperson emphasized the need for American firms like Nvidia to focus on innovation rather than attempting to circumvent these restrictions.
