In a heated exchange, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) snapped at a conservative reporter to “f— off” when he asked her questions about immigration and her stance on the issue outside the U.S. Capitol.
According to reports, the encounter took place as the journalist, Gabriel Hays of Fox News Digital, attempted to ask Omar about her views on immigration policy, specifically regarding border control and the treatment of migrants. However, instead of engaging with his questions, the congresswoman became irate, responding with a profanity-laced insult.
Hays expressed disappointment in Omar’s unprofessional behavior, stating that he found it rude and unacceptable. He noted that he was asking the same question to other Democrats, but Omar stood out for her hostility.
The incident is particularly noteworthy given Omar’s previous statements on press freedom. In 2020, she stated that a free press is fundamental to an open and democratic society, emphasizing that she makes no exceptions in advocating for such freedoms.
