“Overwatch 2′ Stadium Roadmap: New Heroes, Maps, Unranked, Crossplay And More
Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the Overwatch 2 Stadium mode roadmap for the next couple of seasons. This comes as a huge relief to fans who have been eagerly waiting for more updates on the competitive play mode.
The Season 17 update will bring new heroes Sigma, Junkrat and Zenyatta, alongside new maps Esperanca and Samoa. Moreover, crossplay custom games will be introduced, allowing players to save and share their hero builds. This feature is likely to benefit beginners who are still learning the ropes of Overwatch’s competitive scene.
The following season, Season 18 (August), will see the addition of heroes Winston, Sojourn, and Brigitte, as well as two new maps, Route 66 and London. A new game mode called Payload Race will be introduced, featuring two new maps. In addition to this, there will be all-star rewards available in the form of Stadium trials.
It is worth noting that Blizzard has also announced plans for consumables and item upgrades to be added at a later date. This suggests that the team may be experimenting with different methods to balance the game more effectively.
Blizzard also confirmed that an unranked option will be implemented in Season 17, allowing players to play with friends without worrying about competitive pressure. This move is likely aimed at encouraging social play and fostering a sense of community within the Overwatch 2 fanbase.
Furthermore, it seems that the new heroes added to the game will be automatically available in Stadium when their respective midseason patches arrive. Sojourn, the Support hero codenamed Aqua, will supposedly make its debut in Season 18’s update around September.
Lastly, the stats from the launch week have been released, revealing some interesting insights. During this period, players earned a whopping 900 billion Stadium Cash and picked up 206 million items to enhance their heroes. Lucio was found to be the hero with the highest win rate during the first seven days of play, while the support hero was simultaneously the least-picked one.
Overall, this roadmap provides some exciting updates for Overwatch 2 fans, including unranked mode and new heroes. Blizzard’s commitment to expanding on Stadium seems promising, especially considering the game’s recent success.”
