Metaplanet Hits 10,000 BTC Mark Following $210M Bond-Backed Acquisition
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has reached a significant milestone by acquiring an additional 1,112 Bitcoin (BTC) to bring its total holdings to a staggering 10,000 BTC. This remarkable achievement is the result of a strategic acquisition funded by a $210 million bond-backed issuance.
According to reports, this latest purchase is part of Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin Treasury Operations strategy, which has seen the company aggressively expand its digital assets portfolio in recent months.
The newly acquired 1,112 BTC was purchased for approximately ¥16.883 billion or $117 million. Notably, these transactions were executed without any interest rate or credit fees, demonstrating Metaplanet’s commitment to maintaining a strong financial position and maximizing returns on investments.
As part of its “210 Million Plan,” the company has successfully raised capital from EVO FUND by issuing bonds bearing zero interest and redeemable at face value by December 12, 2025. This bold move reflects Metaplanet’s confidence in the long-term potential of Bitcoin as a valuable store of wealth.
Metaplanet’s remarkable rise to this milestone highlights the growing trend among public companies to integrate digital assets into their treasuries. With over 117 firms collectively holding more than 800,000 BTC, it is clear that institutional investors are increasingly recognizing the value of cryptocurrencies in their investment portfolios.
The company has also set its sights on even greater heights, aiming to amass a total of 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. To achieve this ambitious goal, Metaplanet will need to secure an additional 200,000 BTC within the next 18 months.
