REO Speedwagon’s Terry Luttrell hospitalized after car crash in Illinois
Terry Luttrell, the lead vocalist of legendary rock band REO Speedwagon, was rushed to the hospital on Sunday morning following a severe car accident. According to reports from Fox News, Luttrell was involved in a serious vehicle collision while driving on Interstate 57 in Illinois.
Sources close to the incident revealed that Luttrell had fallen asleep at the wheel, causing him to lose control of his car and crash into an unspecified object on the highway. The singer-songwriter suffered injuries including a cracked sternum, which has left him requiring rehabilitation treatment for an extended period.
Luttrell’s injuries were reportedly not life-threatening, but he is expected to remain hospitalized for several days as part of the recovery process.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, shortly after Luttrell had performed a reunion concert with his bandmates on Saturday evening. In a subsequent interview with The News-Gazette, Luttrell explained that his exhaustion led to him falling asleep at the wheel, which ultimately resulted in the accident.
“It was just sign-sign-sign,” Luttrell recalled, referring to his lengthy autograph session at an after-party event following the concert. “I had people with Starcastle albums and REO albums. People were really friendly.”
Despite the seriousness of the incident, it appears that no other individuals were involved or injured in the crash.
Luttrell’s hospitalization comes amidst a tumultuous period for the band, as they announced their decision to discontinue touring due to “irreconcilable differences” late last year.
