Chicken dishes sold at Kroger and Walmart recalled due to possible listeria contamination
FreshRealm is voluntarily recalling its pre-made chicken fettuccine alfredo meals sold at Kroger and Walmart due to concerns that the products may be contaminated with Listeria, a bacterium that can cause serious infection in certain individuals. The recall was announced by the Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Wednesday.
The recalled products were produced before June 17th and have specific packaging details: establishment numbers “EST. P-50784,” “EST. P-47770,” or “EST. P-47718” printed on the packaging, as well as best-by dates of 06/27/25 or prior for the 32.8 oz trays; 06/26/25 or prior for the 12.3 oz trays; and 06/19/25 or prior for the 12.5 oz trays.
All three products are part of FreshRealm’s “MARKETSIDE GRILLED CHICKEN ALFREDO WITH FETTUCCINE” line, which was sold at Kroger and Walmart stores nationwide. The USDA is urging consumers who have purchased these items not to consume them, but rather discard or return the products to their place of purchase.
The recall comes amid concerns that the contaminated chicken dishes may be linked to a possible outbreak strain of Listeria, which has caused three deaths and one fetal loss, as well as sickened 17 people in 13 states. The USDA is currently investigating the source of contamination with public health partners.
It’s worth noting that two individuals who fell ill reported purchasing chicken fettuccine alfredo products matching FreshRealm’s description. Two other ill individuals also purchased products that could be traced back to FreshRealm establishments.
Consumers in high-risk categories, such as older adults, people with compromised immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns, are advised to seek immediate medical attention if they experience flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming the contaminated food.
